Sunday, June 24: Pride in NYC & Carnegie Hall

My eyes are tired, my feet are sore, my heart is full.

I’m looking over at my mess of a suitcase, with a T-shirt strewn across the top displaying a unicorn shitting out a rainbow, and I’m wondering how my trip here is already coming to a close. The past few months have felt non-stop, and I wasn’t sure how restful a trip to New York City would be for me, but it turned out to be a perfect balance of exploration and relaxation.

Today we went to watch the pride parade. It was a lot of fun, and great people watching. All of the outfits were fun, but I’ll be honest, I was hoping to see more bare bottoms!

After we spent a few hours at the parade, we headed back home to rest and refuel before going to Carnegie Hall for a concert with the Masterwork Festival Chorus and the New York City Chamber Orchestra. The tickets were only $7 each! The the music and singing were so lovely. Plus, the trek there led us right along Central Park, which looks gigantic in a wonderful way. I feel like I’ve spent more time in natural areas and parks this weekend than I have these past few months back in Colorado!

It’s been a great first trip to New York, filled with so many beautiful, interesting areas and neighborhoods, and a whole lot of delicious food.

Until next time, New York!
